If We Moderates Fail To Speak Out Against Extremists Everyone Is Doomed.

If there is any one thing the brutal Winter War in Gaza, which was between a minority of extremists holding hostage most of Gaza’s Palestinian citizens and an Israel that cannot afford to let extremists develop a situation that would forever manage to ruin every realistic chance for peace, has taught us it is this: extremists should not and cannot be tolerated by moderates on either side, anywhere in the world! Extremism and extremists are a threat to world socio-economic stability, security and overall peace, but the longer the world’s moderates fail to realize the urgency of the need to unite and speak with one unitary and strong voice against extremists, regardless of which specific conflict it may be, the closer we get to a situation that could very well push the world into a truly hopeless abyss of extreme violence spiraling totally out of control, which would eventually, probably within years, set the whole world ablaze! You do not have to be some neurotic doomsday nut to understand why the status quo of a massive failure of moderates to truly unite, and to speak out as one, risks letting extremists decide the course of history. And if extremists are left to decide the course of human history humanity will soon be history.
One would think that the Winter War in Gaza (2008-2009) would have been enough to send a shockwave of alarm bells going off in the capitals of those relatively moderate Middle Eastern and North African, predominantly Arab and Islamic, states. The Good Lord knows that if Egypt’s moderate government were ever to fall and end up in the hand of extremists then that, in of itself, would be enough to end all chances of a relatively peaceful settlement and agreement between relatively moderate Palestinians and Israelis, and that would herald a time when almost every relatively moderate Arab government would fall and the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah would begin to take over and start both a fight amongst themselves and a seemingly endless series of extremely dangerous attacks on Israel, which would not just mean that decades of very hard diplomatic work and strategic alliance building (on the part of The United States and Europe) would vanish into oblivion, but it would mean that extremists on both sides (Israelis and Arabs) would claim to have been proven right all along: that peace cannot exist between these two peoples! And an Arab world taken over by extremists and united by perpetual and senseless extreme hatred of Jews and Israelis would also be a world that would pose a threat to Western Civilization and Liberal Democratic values, including Human Rights and the rights of Individuals, mostly by means of energy resource blackmail. The world, which already suffers from the previous eight years of Neo-Con incompetence and dangerously destabilizing policies in The Middle East and elsewhere, would surely fail to restore itself, economically and otherwise, and that would certainly lead to exceedingly violent rioting throughout Europe and North America, which would then be exploited by brutish megalomaniacs who would manage to take over control and cause further havoc and mayhem everywhere! Hundreds of years of hard work and real progress would go down the drain in a matter of a few years, if not faster, and World War Three would be one horrific mega-shock after another, including chemical, biological and nuclear warfare, to the point of total annihilation of all significant life on Earth!
And when one studies up on the whole complexity of the region’s conflict, and takes into consideration the current Iranian regime’s obvious efforts to attain nuclear weapons, with full launch capacity, capable of striking all of The Middle East and most of Europe, and when one understands what Iran would do, once it would attain such a capacity, then the urgency for real unity and progress among moderates should be absolutely obvious. For Iran would not use its nuclear weapons to strike Israel directly, but instead would be able to force the hands of Europe and The United States, after sinking several large Oil Tankers at the narrowest point of The Persian Gulf, thereby choking off a significant supply of the world’s desperately needed Oil! Iran would then be able to avoid being directly attacked by conventional military means as the USA would not want a Europe obliterated by Iranian nuclear weapons…something the extremist Iranian regime would not hesitate to do if attacked for having gained full control of the flow of Gulf Oil to the world! And then Israel, which would most likely face economic and social collapse, should the Western world stop supporting it, would then have no option but to play its only remaining cards, and that would definitely lead to World War Three, which would not last more than a few months at best!
Just this past Monday representatives of non-moderate Sunnite Islamic groups, who obviously do not represent all Sunnite Arab Muslims, met in Turkey and began to voice their desire to ignite a fully violent Jihad (as opposed to any relatively peaceful type of Jihad) in Gaza and the West Bank! Should they succeed the situation would soon become even worse than it was just this past Winter, and that would mean a final blow to any and all chances for an otherwise urgently needed, lasting, viable peace!
Time is really running out for President Barack Obama and his magnificent team of professional peace-makers to unite the relatively moderate Arab nation’s governments and to support the lukewarm beginnings of true peace between Israel and the relatively moderate PA Palestinians of the West Bank (and eventually to include Gaza…once the Hamas extremists have been properly dealt with by the PA). And one reads too many editorialists and commentators talking about how the War in Gaza means that peace between Israelis and Palestinians will now be further delayed for another two to four ears, at least! Well, we just don’t have the luxury of waiting any longer. I have good reason to think, based on various ominous reports and logical insight, that if a relatively peaceful Two-State solution is not reached by June, then too many things will ensue (happen) that will make it impossible to ever have peace at all! Both Israel and the relatively moderate Arabs must be made to understand why this is so, and how important it is for them to begin to dare to speak out against extremists on all sides. And for that to happen, for Arab and Israeli moderates to be able to come out and speak with one, loud, unequivocally strong and united voice, the rest of the world’s moderates must join the chorus and let the extremists, not just those in Iran and throughout The Middle East, but everywhere in the world, know that we moderates are not willing to remain silent and divided any longer. If we moderates fail to speak out against extremists everyone on Earth is doomed. This is just as true about The Middle East as it is about ultra-nationalists in Europe exploiting the current economic and social crises, and extremists elsewhere in the world who seem to be born of generations of people whose mindset and way of thinking is based on the artificial idealism and the surreal extremism that is caused by almost constantly playing fortuitously violent computer video games, as well as communicating over the Internet instead of in real life and even pretending to live inside virtual reality worlds! Most of these people of the Computer and Internet Age are addicted to “Virtual Reality Think” and have very weak social skills and are desensitized to extreme violence. They are generally intolerant, lack compassion and have trouble understanding why it is that in the real world one cannot just wipe out every ‘enemy’ and every person who causes the slightest annoyance or discomfort! They are unable to understand why real solutions to real problems in the real world are going to be imperfect, and as such require both willingness and even the desire to compromise and to tolerate differences in a relatively peaceful manner.
Yes, it’s that scary! The world is more and more in the hands of generations of people who grew up surrounded by computers, video games and the Internet, and who can easily become exceedingly dangerous once they mix extremist agendas with such modern technological means of communications and networking, through which it has become all too easy to sell preposterous myths and dangerously unrealistic expectations and ideals.
So, no matter how you look at the situation today; the need for peace in the Middle East is so urgent and so important that any failure to convey this awareness is, in of itself, going to give more power to the extremists who wish to convince young minds that peace is impossible and that the enemy can and will eventually be obliterated! Nothing could be further from the truth! Violent conflict between peoples will bring nothing but further senseless horrors and will push the whole world into that final abyss of total destruction and death.
What I wonder is this: Is anyone intelligent and influential enough really listening to this? And will they not see for themselves how right I am when I say that we just don’t have any time left to wait another year or more?!?

Roseanne Barr Is Totally Nuts! Calling Israel a Nazi State is Insane!

Israel may not be a perfect nation, and in many ways it has not been allowed to exist in normal circumstances, by any means, but for Roseanne Barr to call it a Nazi State shows just how little she knows about or understands the dire circumstances that face Israel every single moment! She compared Hamas to two rival and historic L.A. gangs, which is not only offensive to those particular gangs, but is totally absurd! The two gangs in question never teach children to strap on explosives and commit murderous suicidal terrorist attacks, they do not launch missiles into Beverly Hills or into Hollywood, and they certainly do not call for the destruction of Hollywood/Beverly Hills and the annihilation of famous movie stars and celebrities! Hamas hides behind relatively innocent men, women and children, which includes most Gaza Palestinian Arabs, and then launches indiscriminate missile attacks into Israel, even though Israel no longer occupies Gaza! Hamas teaches poor and relatively uneducated people, even young children and young adults, to do the most inhuman thing: to commit suicide attacks! And Hamas, which is serving the interests of fanatic pseudo-Islamic extremists and not the interests of relatively peaceful Palestinian Sunnite-majority Muslims, has attempted to create a situation that, had Israel not acted on time, would certainly have caused even greater numbers of innocent casualties! When Roseanne Barr, who uses her Jewish ancestry to try to give legitimacy to her ill-advised and misinformed opinions, calls Israel a Nazi State, she not only seriously harms efforts at creating a long-term, viable peace in the region, but she endangers the security and safety of millions of people all over the world, Jewish and otherwise, who understand that there is no room for legitimizing terrorism. My reason for writing this is because Wikipedia's entry on this issue is too brief and relatively sterile, compared to the seriousness of the controversy at hand. Celebrities, especially Jewish celebrities, have all the right to criticize excessive actions taken by Israel, but to use their status to help re-enforce public misconceptions should not be met with silence on the part of responsible intellectuals, whether they be Palestinians, Israelis, Jews or Muslims. Wikipedia has a responsibility to report facts and that includes reactions from alternate and opposing sources.

Between Extreme Capitalism and Extreme Socialism: The Missed Comfort of Lukewarm Waters.

During The Cold War, from around 1946 to 1996, The United States of America and some of its West European NATO allies understood that while Capitalism is a pre-requisite to human freedom, especially the liberty of individuals, some aspects of Socialism were legitimate in insuring sufficient social cohesion and preventing too many people from ending up homeless and hungry. This was more true in Western European nations than America, but even in The United States certain social welfare programs were devised in order to insure domestic tranquility and to be able to convince potential political asylum seeking Soviets and East Europeans that as hard as life can be in the West, the freedom gained was worth the risk.

As part of the post-war deal the West sought to promote the views of relatively progressive liberal thinkers, writers, artists and entertainers, whose views were strongly opposed to all forms of Fascism, especially Nazism. This was not just about de-Nazi-fying Germany, Austria and de-Fascistifying Italy, Spain and other nations of the former Axis nations, but about a legitimate concern for free-market principles, best benefited by tolerating non-violent troublemakers, especially moderate Socialists, Social Democrats and Libertarians. However, as soon as The Soviet Union collapsed, and with it the entire Warsaw Pact, as soon as The United States emerged as the solitary global Superpower, certain elements of the Right-wing political establishments decided that those same creative and outspoken individuals, people like John Lennon, Andy Warhol, Kurt Vonnegut, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Gore Vidal, Paul Newman (see my tribute coming soon/or above), who once served their interests in allowing for the appearance of real freedom and liberty (wherein fact the USA has had a contradictory and mixed record on its own stated principles and values)were suddenly at best mildly tolerated by those with real power and massive influence.

What is certain is that truly progressive moderates and liberals, Social Democratic Capitalist Intellectuals such as my self, have been the target of cleverly devised methods to disenfranchise, silence, ignore... (especially by the mass media...who at first were only too eager to give me a voice!)... and gradually totally undermine and eventually destroy them, given that their (my) views are highly critical of extremisms, especially Right-wing Capitalist and Left-wing Communist extremisms! After all, we could be the new Spinozas, Gandhis and Einsteins of the world! We could, if the media would dare do what is truly in the world's best interests, easily become the kind of intellectual heroes, social role models, capable of inspiring, instigating and motivating younger people to avoid joining the ranks of the extremists, to oppose all forms of extremism, and to seek to make a much better world than the one we currently find ourselves barely living in! We could be the kind of hero Philosophers, Poets and Pundits who, through our fine use of words, through our powerful use of great and deeply thought-provoking ideas and images, through our sense of future-seeing and hope, might turn young people away from seeking superficial vanities, undeserved fame and fortune, or from giving up on the world and becoming violent extremists! We might finally be able to convince young people that seeking true wisdom, greater knowledge and genuine enlightenment are just as important as seeking the means to live healthy, comfortable and exciting lives! We might be able to bring about a True Era of Lasting (hopefully Everlasting) Enlightenment,Peace and Prosperity based on legitimately Spiritual and truly Scientific Reasoning and Wisdom! An era when Unity-in-Diversity, Tolerance of Tolerant Others, and True Freedom, Liberty and Democracy reign supreme, for the benefit of all decent persons and all Free-Thinkers!


Only through Social Democracy can The United States of America work to best serve the legitimate interests of practically all Americans, from what should never be less than Lower Middle Class Working Americans to the few Truly Deserving Upper Class Inventors, Innovators, and other quintessential Geniuses! (Oh, yeah...such a I myself! Facetious sarcasm allowed. LOL! Slight element of truth.)

Till then, we must not assume that just because someone thinks they have good reason to be concerned about their relative safety and abuses of their legitimate rights, that they are necessarily exaggerating things or, worse yet, truly delusional and paranoid. One tactic mentioned in several extreme Right-wing manuals involves using very cleverly devised, hi-tech methods to cause "troublemakers", "boat-rockers", "misfits", "non-conformists" and other Responsibly Progressive Liberal Social Democrats & True Libertarians to appear to their friends as being conspiracy-theory-addicted paranoid delusional schizophrenics and potential psychopaths or sociopaths! Anyone interested in the specifics of these cleverly devised, hi-tech methods, being used right now by extreme Right-wingers all over the world, should write me in private and I will try my best to provide details and proof! Remember how right John Lennon was, after years of being the target of similar efforts to defame, disenfranchise and destroy him! As for how to tell the difference between a real victim of such sinister methods/tactics and someone who really does go too far; I'll be happy to send you my views on that too. Nevertheless, one must understand that when a specific person is being targeted for such sinister methods/tactics eventually, over time, the sum effect can be to cause a legitimate victim to actually become, little by little, a double-victim, as it gets harder and harder for that specific individual to avoid assuming things about other people, whose statements and actions might otherwise give legitimate cause for concern and reason to fear, that may or may not be true! The recent movie "Ridicule" alludes to that, and one should always take the trouble to read George Orwell's "1984" again, as it serves to remind us how far people in power are willing to go to remain in power long after any legitimate mandate, if there was a mandate to begin with!

Of course none of us who are truly sensible like having to live under the constant knowledge of, concern about and fear of powerful and influential people who are so bored, mundane, vulgar and vain that they get their kicks out of playing around with the lives of others! In case you have already begun to forget what Machiavelli's The Prince and Malthus's An Essay on the Principle of Population, or for that matter what movies like "Brazil", "Meet John Doe", "Citizen Kane", "The Matrix", "Bob Roberts", "Soylent Green", "Network" and "The Net" are really trying to warn us about!

For younger readers and older readers alike, looking for wisdom without too much of the darker side imagery; there is always my favorite book, Antoine De Saint-Exupery's The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince)!

So, between extreme Capitalism and extreme Socialism, let me and my many fancifully fantastic friends frolic in the luke-warm waters of Freedom, Liberty and Unity-in-Diversity!

The Problem of The Matti Juhani Saari’s Of The World & How To Solve It!

Before my article I would like to express my most sincere condolences to all those whose lives have been shattered by this sick young person’s senseless acts of extreme violence. Having witnessed extreme violence as a young man in a war-torn region of the world, I know all too well how it feels to see life turned completely upside down. I have long dedicated much of my efforts to find ways to prevent violence, including direct violence and socio-economic violence, which, as Mahatma Gandhi correctly showed, are linked. Obviously one form of violence never truly justifies another, except when it is truly in self-defense, and one must be careful not to confuse these kind of insanities with what Partisans and fighting Jews did in response to the monstrosity of Nazism and Fascism in World War 2.

And now, my article;

Sometimes I really have to wonder whether The World is paying any real attention to those of us whose relatively critical observations and understanding of the world’s social problems might yield serious, practical solutions. And when a very sick young person, such as Matti Juhani Saari of Finland, manages to destroy so many more lives than just the ones he actually murdered point-blank, my sense of indignation and frustration compel me to write yet another one of these types of articles, in the eternal hope that my views and advice shall finally be given the kind of public policy attention they deserve.
On my part, as an independent Free-Thinker, a Spiritual & Scientific Philosopher, this is the very least I can and should do, in the sincere conviction that I am correct about my understanding and my reasoning-out solutions. After all, if prevention of these tragic horrors is possible, as I am sure it is, then it is our sincere obligation as fellow citizens of this precious little planet of ours to leave no stone unturned in our quest for a world free from the excessive fear and irrational hate that generates so many victims and victimizers!

First of all, there is no doubt about the fact that this specific type of extreme violence was until relatively recently unheard of in modern Scandinavian societies, and that something must have changed over the years in Finland, where this is the third such incident since 1989. Then again, we must also keep in mind that Scandinavia was once the prominent cultural source of Viking and Celtic cultures, which were notorious for their excessive violence! So, as we take a deeper look into this matter, we must not over-idealize Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish culture. As any Scandinavian Social Scientist or Anthropologist is likely to confirm; there is and has always been an under-current of excessively violent emotions in their societies, and it is only with the advent of Reformed Christianity and The Humanist Movement of the early 20th Century that educated Scandinavian intellectuals have worked very hard to provide the kind of social circumstances intended to reduce the risks of these troubling undercurrents.

These last two tragedies, the one perpetrated by Pekka-Eric Auvinen in Jokela, which claimed the lives of 9 persons, and this one, which has claimed the lives of 10 persons (not including the life of Saari, himself), were done by sick young men whose contempt for humanity was something they openly declared on such public Internet sites as YouTube! But why?!? What is it about life in Finland today that could be a significant factor in the sick mindset, twisted world-view and demented set of pseudo-ideals that these young men held??

A lot of extreme youth violence today, I would contend, is the result of the kind of growing severe social instability caused by a combination of the severe socio-economic insecurity suffered by their parents, combined with HIV-AIDS fear-mongering which has managed to remove a major stress-releasing venue once popular in modern Scandinavian societies: relatively easy access to pleasurable sexual relationships, especially for the parents of this young men. For in colder climates, where half of the year is lived in relative darkness and people are at risk of severe depression, sexual pleasure, in the context of warm, affectionate, socialization was actually encouraged! And when a young man is senses that his parents are not frustrated and unhappy, he is much less likely to develop anti-social thoughts and behavior. If we stop glamorizing strict monogamy, which tends be nothing more than insecurity-based possesiveness, then young people will not feel obliged to strive for some unrealistic ideal! Now, I am not at all suggesting that monogamy is wrong per se, not that anyone who is able to live in true loving monogamy should abandon what makes them feel comfortable and happy, but I am suggesting that young men and women today are getting very confused, mixed messages and there are no intellectual role models they can look up to and respect and seek to emulate! Fact is that the mass media has abandoned promoting intellectuals, especially those whose message is of unity-in-diversity, tolerance of tolerant others, liberal enjoyment of life's natural pleasures and healthy mutual consentual relations between mature persons! In that sense the mass media are much to blame for discouraging young people from being intellectually inclined!

As for this particular tragic massacre; sexual repression must surely have been a factor. In fact, one could argue that the Viking and Celtic peoples would have been even more violent and violence-ridden were it not for their sexual socialization! And no doubt the forced introduction of the sexually-inhibitive pre-Reformed early ‘Christian’ way of living, which strictly opposed the Pagan, sexually active, way of life, caused a similar increase in extreme violence! Just that we do not have the statistics from those times, and so we assume that these incidents have nothing to do with sexuality. The fact of the matter is simple; in times of socio-economic hardship, combined with excessive fears of dangerous diseases, such as HIV-AIDS, Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis and deadly Hepatitis-C, women tend to be less willing to open up sexually to men, and this kind of regressive social instability pushes people, especially men, to extremes, such that they begin to experience mental disorders, become reactionary and eventually lose their mental sanity and commit acts of excessive violence! But then, what is the real solution to preventing this chain-reaction of dangerous problems? Obviously, it would be wrong to suggest that women in society should endanger their lives by engaging in the kind of sexual activities that were not as risky in previous times. And obviously it would be counter-productive to continue the status quo of sexual repression. So? The answer is actually quite evident: we can find sophisticated, well-devised, and definitely much safer ways to provide the same old-time levels of sexual and social freedom and cohesion. For example, if governments really wanted happier, healthier and thus more humane societies all they would need to do is work with the private sector in creating facilities and venues where relatively Safe-Sex encounters would be possible! New speedy AIDS testing technologies and encouraging the use of quality condoms would go a long way to insuring that such venues would be almost entirely risk-free! But this would also mean re-introducing the culture of poly-amorous tolerance that began to exist in the late 60s to the early 80s, but without all the dangerous, senseless, careless risk-taking! After all, the fact of the matter is quite simple: because of the enormous public health threat that HIV-AIDS and other socially and sexually communicable diseases pose, including the obvious socio-economic threat, governments since the 80s have been literally ‘killing the patient in order to cure the disease’! They have been doing everything possible to discourage young people and elder persons from exactly the kind of behavior, which, if done sensibly, would actually help reduce violence in society!

As usual, a bunch of socially incompetent technocrats took the world from one extreme to another, all in the name of protecting economic interests by curtailing sexual freedom by means of mass media assisted fear-mongering! Any truly wise social architect and manager can see that they failed to consider the possibility of a middle-of-the-road approach, a truly creative and new technologies- and methodologies-based way to at once continue providing people the venues and cultural-acceptability of sexual freedom, while significantly helping to prevent and reduce the truly dangerous and destructive spread of diseases! Ah! But who stood to benefit…to profit…from such stupid, counterproductive and backfiring technocratic approaches and policies towards transmissible diseases?? Well, the answer is quite simple and obvious: both Reactionary Anti-Social Right-wing Elitists and Traditional Conservative Religionists! For these types of extremists HIV-AIDS was a ‘heaven send’ and one could even argue that there might be some measure of truth to those conspiracy theories that claim HIV-AIDS was deliberately created and/or allowed to take on epidemic proportions and become a serious public health concern! Mind you, the Reagan Administration deliberately ignored calls, even from within the Gay Homosexual community, to impose humane forms of Quarantine on individuals with AIDS, when HIV and Un-Safe Sexual Practices were not yet identified as the culprits! And all pseudo-Republican Administrations have worked with other entities to prevent the popularization of Safe-Sex methodology and practice! Why? Because sexually liberated and free societies are not excessive, junk-food, junk-product-addicted consumerist societies that ultimately only serve the interests of Reactionary Elitist Extreme Capitalists! Moderate Progressive Liberal Capitalists, including Social Democrats like myself, have been the ultimate targets of these Extreme Regressive Reactionary pseudo-Conservative Capitalists. Sure, those of us on the right side of History, those of us who truly value and respect Individual Human Rights, Freedoms and Liberties, including (obviously) natural Family Rights, will not lie about the reality of things by telling you that a Scientific, Pro-Social Responsibly Progressive Liberal way of Sexually Free Society is totally without dangers and risks! I would quesstimate that the difference between the Reactionary way and ours is that theirs ultimately causes hundreds of millions of deaths, at least, while ours only causes tens of millions at most! But the Reactionary way also leads to a significant rise in Global Security Threats and a very dangerous increase in violent conflicts! Whereas our Responsibly Progressive Liberal way actually diminishes the overall Global Security Threat and leads to a significant reduction in wars, crime and corruption! In a world of physical imperfection there is no perfect solution to anything, let alone to the ages old problem of “To Do It, or Not To Do It!”. I say, let the Happy Days and Sexual Freedom back again, but this time let’s do things sensibly, safely and soundly!

Otherwise, I fear, these sort of horrifying mass murders will become more and more common and within no time we’ll be stuck in a bottomless pit of violence and horror spiraling out of control, wondering why we didn’t heed the wise advice of Responsibly Progressive Liberal Social Democrats, such as myself!

As for better gun control programs; within reason I support that, but we must remember that where there is a strong will there is also a way! And reducing access to guns alone will not insure our safety, security and sanity!

An Idea I Submitted To Senator Barack Obama.

The Administration of President Barack Obama, once in office, should seek to have legislation passed that would require that officials and agents of the Federal Government, including all related State agencies and officials, be required to attend a mandatory 8 to 20 hours long Ethics, Civil Rights & Constitutionality Course every year, or every two years, in which they would learn and/or be reminded of the very dangers of corruption, of the failure to respect the Constitutional and other Civil Rights of citizens, of the fact that they, as government officials, may be investigated at any time to help insure that they are following through on their ethical and legal obligations under the Constitution.

We also need to create a strong Citizens’ Rights Ombudsman-ship Department, with Ombudspersons randomly invited from all walks of life and sectors of society. The purpose of this semi-government agency would be to give citizens a serious added measure of protection, as well as place to air legitimate grievances, against any possibly corrupt government official or agent, and whose Ombudspersons would be authorized to investigate, publicly publish all findings and seek the prosecution of any persons who are seriously suspected of having violated the Civil Rights of any and all citizens. To insure that the Ombudspersons, at least four for every State in the Union, themselves have not been corrupted, there should be a Special Internal Investigations Council of Ombudspersons which would be comprised of both current and former Ombudspersons who have not been in violation of the law, with exception to a single Misdemeanor. No Convicted Felons would be allowed to be Ombudspersons. As an added measure to insure ethical behavior on the part of Ombudspersons, they would be paid significant salaries and would be eligible for a special bonus upon successful completion of their four-year tenures. Such Ombudspersons would also be part of the following idea:

The Administration of President Barack Obama should seek to create a Federal Court of Special & Exceptional Cases, such that citizens whose grievances and problems are unusually complex and/or odd can get the attention of the Federal Government and make their case for seeking whatever possible/reasonable Federal Assistance, i.e. Legal or Financial, that by virtue of the intent of The Constitution they would be entitled to. After all, there are many persons, perhaps in the thousands, whose grievance and problems are due to some very unusual circumstances and/or experiences that cannot be addressed by any regular courts. Some likely case examples:
1. A citizen Holocaust Survivor’s (or any other Genocide’s) adult child is unable to have her/his rightful family property returned by the government of a foreign country on account of their own domestic property rights laws that are in violation of International Law, but The United States Government could represent the individual concerned in an International Court and seek reparations/damages on behalf of that U.S. citizen! The obvious benefit to the U.S. government would be that it could then discourage any future violations of the Human Rights of anyone in the world! And even if the case concerned involved a ridiculously low level of government compensation, the case would still stand up in an International Court.
2. A citizen is an exceptionally brilliant and self-educated person, what is known as an autodidact, but due to past injustices and misfortunes was unable to acquire formal accreditation that she or he would otherwise, based on the merits of their actual exceptional knowledge, experience and abilities, be entitled to. Such a person should have the right to be tested by an accredited institution of higher learning and, should they have passed the examination(s), receive the diploma they are entitled to. The government would pay for the diploma, and the recipient would then be given a fixed number of years to repay the government, pending their actual income. This opportunity would be relatively rare and unlikely to be abused, as no one in their right mind would set up their lives to have a long period of relative failure, and the benefits to society would be potentially enormous! Institutions of higher learning would offer their diplomas to such exceptional persons at a discount, and this would, once and for all, help solve the historic injustice of people who are disenfranchised simply because they were unable to afford to obtain a full higher education and associated formal accreditation, diploma, and related employment opportunities. Last but not least, society as a whole would not be at risk of forever missing-out and losing the great innovations, inventions, ideas and solutions such autodidacts tend to offer! This is truly a win-win-win solution!
3. A citizen has been through a series of unusually unfortunate misunderstandings and what not, and is somehow unable to get the public assistance they would otherwise be entitled to, but with such a Special & Exceptional Cases Court they would finally be able to explain their over-complicated case and have a Judge or Jury decide whether or not they have been denied their due.
4. A citizen lost her or his employment due to nasty pressure tactics and threats from criminal gangs or organized crime and was unable to afford, financially and security-wise, to safely take their case to court, but their Civil Rights were nonetheless denied and such a special court could judge in favor of that particular citizen receiving special federal protections, and what not, as well as representation against any entities involved in the denial of their right to employment.
5. A citizen believes that their specific religious beliefs and/or lifestyle and/or sexual identity, etc.., have been used against her or him against her or his rights, but was unable to afford legal representation and would now be able to have this Special & Exceptional Cases Court judge in their favor and connect them to the resources and representation they would need to get justice, thereby insuring that the Law is Truly Fair, Just and Blind to whether or not they can afford private representation on their own means, etc…

Such Federal Court of Special & Exceptional Cases would include in its juries Ombudspersons, thereby helping insure that no case held can be rigged against the citizen!

There Is No Such Thing As A Fascist Democracy!

The Founding Parents of America (notice ‘parents’ and not ‘fathers’) knew all too well that for America to succeed in being a true democracy it would have to have a Constitution that protects the rights of all individuals to be free from the fear of groups of individuals, vice versa. And they knew that the only way to protect the rights, in effect the freedoms and liberties, of all individuals America must be to create and maintain a country that abides by the principle of Unity-In-Diversity, Tolerance of Tolerant Others, and Separation of Religion from State-Craft, in effect Personal Beliefs from Public Interest!


The vision of America that pseudo-Republicans, Neo-Cons, and other Reactionaries have is one that is opposed to Unity-In-Diversity, Tolerance of Tolerant Others and Separation of Religion from State-Craft (more commonly referred to as Separation of Church and State). But there is something inherently idiotic and dangerous about the idea of an ‘America’ where some elite group decides which religions, which particular denominations, which ways of living, which types of persons are welcome, included and enfranchised and which are considered deviant, evil, wrong , unacceptable, incorrect, and are unwelcome, excluded and disenfranchised. After all, who decides and where does the process of weeding-out undesirables begin and stop?!?


On the other hand there are also irresponsible pseudo-liberals and fake progressives who really do go too far in the opposite direction, such as those who disrespect the conservative values of others.


That said, Responsibly Progressive Liberal Democrats understand that true Unity-In-Diversity, though requiring constant attention and effort, as well as Tolerance of Tolerant Others and Separation of Religion from State, cannot be possible when government intentionally or even inadvertently disrespects and violates the privacy and private property rights of individuals! The vision of America, the right vision, that truly Progressive Liberal Democrats, including Social Democrats and Social Libertarians, hold is an America in which there is a place for practically every life-style, every identity, every individual and every group! The only common limit is that which is defined as The True Golden Rule: Do Unto Others As They Really Want To Be Done Unto, Or Do Nothing, i.e. never force your ways unto others! True Liberals, Progressives, Democrats, and even True Republicans truly appreciate, understand and agree to enforce the True Golden Rule! For example: so long as an adult does not harm minors and only engages in intimate relations, on a truly consensual basis, with other adults; government has no business inhibiting, intimidating or in any way disrespecting the liberty and freedom of such adults. The same principle applies in relation to other issues. Some other examples: 1. Decriminalizing the possession of controlled and illegal substances, and dealing with substance abuse as a social health threat and individual health problem is the right way, not sending adults off to jail, where they are likely to become really hardcore criminals; 2. Protecting vulnerable families and minors from mentally ill people by requiring such mentally ill persons to move into specially created adults-only communities (which the government needs to create) that are built at a significant distance from families and children, and placing offenders in special rehabilitation facilities where the only relations they can have (actually encouraged) are with other adults.; 3. Reducing abortions by preventing unexpected pregnancies and prohibiting late term abortions, except in cases where the life of the woman would be at risk, etc…. The America we truly Responsible Progressive Liberal Social Democrats and Social Libertarians envision is one where individual rights, freedoms and liberties are truly protected and yet where the rights of families and groups to live their way on their own private property is also respected! We want America to be as Diverse and yet Unified-In-Diversity as reasonably possible, to truly be the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. Not some kind of Fascist Regime that favors some over others, and ruins the lives of those who are different than the average, who are not born the same way, who might be persons who freely choose to live in ways quite different than those which society is commonly familiar with! We want an America that is not at serious risk of going down a slippery slope of intolerance based on the insecurity of people whose minds are full of irrational fears, hate and intolerance!


You cannot have it both ways! You cannot have an America that is only ‘Christian’ or only “Jewish’ or only “Muslim’….etcetera…or an America that is only for Conservative Family-oriented people or only for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and what not….or an America that is only for those who are fortunate enough to be wealthy at the expense of modern-day slave laborers…or an America that is only for the majority… and still have the real America, the America of democracy, freedom of speech, liberty and respect for human rights! Either you have a truly Democratic America which is thus based on true tolerance, freedom and liberty or you always end up having a Fascist Regime that ends up destroying even the very select few it is meant to serve!


The real American Way is about NOT WANTING TO IMPOSE YOUR WAY OF LIFE ON OTHER ADULTS but about understanding the difference between public spaces and private spaces!


It’s that simple, and that is why Senator Barack Obama is the right choice for our country, especially as it has been suffering from the most dangerous assault yet from both within and without!

Dear Iowan Democratic Voter,

Yes, you’re right! I do not know you in person, but as a fellow Partybuilder I would like to share with you my thoughts.

1. Something very unpleasant and worrisome is brewing in Pakistan, and one can imagine this scenario: Bush’s people have been allowing the Taleban (read: with the help of Pervez Musharaff) to keep sick/dangerous bin Laden ‘safe’ in hard-to-reach Waziristan Province of Pakistan, until the very final few months before the 2008 U.S. Presidential Elections, so that they can then use an elite joint Pakistani-and-American forces to capture bin Laden, dead or alive, and make it appear that Bush finally delivered on his post-9-11 ‘promise’! Thereby confusing America’s ‘swing voters’ and other voters, just enough so as to give a significant over-the-edge boost to whoever shall be the Republican candidate! And just in case that does not work; they’ll have a ‘Plan B’ in which it will appear, convincingly enough, that a major 9-11-style attack was just foiled!

2. If we Democrats choose Senator Clinton, then it will be very easy, if point ‘1’ happens (and, to some extent, even if it does not), for the Republicans to wipe out any advantage we Democrats have had so far! To a lesser extent the same is true is we choose Senator Obama, whose actual lack of experience and some superficial nonsense being concocted against him (as far as I am concerned Obama would actually make a fine President, even better than Senator Clinton…who, if she won, would try her very best to do what is good for our country, but would constantly face unfair opposition from our opponents)would be used against him. And Edwards is a mixed-bag candidate in terms of his style and manner of speech, which, my intuition tells me, would be too risky for us Democrats. The only choices left are Senator Joe Biden and Governor Richardson, because they both have serious international political experience, knowledge and wisdom. But Governor Richardson does have the baggage of being misperceived as weak on border security and related immigration issues (which is a shame, because he really is a nice guy). Basically, the conclusion I have is that Senator Joe Biden, who would probably choose Obama, Clinton or Richardson as his running-mate, is the candidate our political opponents most fear and can least manage to attack, without appearing nasty!

3. Senator Joe Biden and Senator Barack Obama would make a double-sure knockout election victory and would really deliver the goods to our fellow Americans and make our Democratic Party feel renewed, energetic and help prevent further damage to our Great Constitution and Ship of State! But the mass media, especially Fox, CNN and the Former ‘Big Three’ networks, many in the hands of such dangerous people like Rupert Murdoch (who practically handed Bush almost unlimited power to abuse authority and diminish Liberty), seem to WANT US TO IGNORE SENATOR JOE BIDEN! Why?!? Why should we let these irresponsible, selfish-minded, opportunistic, sensationalism-addicted, hype-spewing, corporate-interest-dependent, freedom-sell-out commercial mass media giants DICTATE TO US who should be Our President??? I see no reason why we should silently acquiesce to these monstrous machines of public opinion manipulation!

4. As I see it, by voting for Senator Joe Biden…even as a surprise final moment decision on your part ( hey…why not?!....go ahead and surprise yourself! ), we can send a clear message to all those who have been like vampires, feeding off the life-force of all decent, working-class and middle-class Americans! Throughout my life I have known how truly progressive Iowan Democrats can be! Now….I know you, as is true about many of your fellow Iowans, are not one to be fooled and played around with…so let me close by saying this: Yes, I have been a Biden and Obama supporter from the start, BUT I am NOT being paid up front by either of them for pushing these stated opinions of mine! And, yes, I hope that by sending you this thoroughly analytical letter you will think it over, a lot, and come to the same basic conclusion, and that you will let others know what I have to say. And, YES, I hope Senator Joe Biden, as President, will offer me a small job as an advisor to him!


Whatever you do, whoever you Caucus for and vote for, I wish you the very best always and hope that some day all of our children and all humanity will live in relative peace and prosperity!

When our most important freedoms are violated then all others go out the window too!

The psychotic and brainwashed pseudo-Islamic fascist terrorists who attacked us on 9-11-2001, the opportunists who took advantage of these attacks in violation of our Great Constitution and all the wonderful liberties, freedoms and human rights we Americans should always be able to experience, cherish and share with those throughout the world who really ask for them, the fools of masses who allow themselves to be swayed one way or another (people who ignore Biden's and Gravel's wisdom and great ideas), are the enemies of every decent noble man and woman!

I'd rather live in a society at some risk of being attacked by external enemies than being destroyed from within by internal enemies. And yet it is a big lie that the only way to relatively strong domestic security is at the expense of even a single one of freedoms, liberties and/or rights.
In fact, only through more freedom and liberty, not less, can we also have greater domestic security!

The same principle applies to social values and norms of conduct. I'd rather live in a society that is sexually liberated, meaning a society where consensual adult relations of all types are not subject to stupid puritanistic laws and where minors are not threatened by sick adults and what minors do with other minors is handled with a respect for the need to avoid discouraging natural behavior, and thus a society that may have a slightly greater risk of social diseases (STDs) than a society that is as unhealthy, uptight, neurotic and self-destructive as we are now! I bet more Americans are dying as a result of living over-cautious lives and lives that are hollow, unsattisfying and unfulfilling, than did at the height of the stupidity that was prevalent in the era of hippies! Unfortunately too many, albeit not all, hippies went too far and mixed unhealthy chemical abuse with sexual liberation, and voila! we've got a society that is mostly boring, unhealthy, overweight and mediocre, caught between two major extreme groups; those who are hypocritical religious extremists and those who are pseudo-liberal chemical abusers!

Clearly a country's welfare is dependent on its political health and a country that is too conservative or pseudo-liberal is politically and socially unhealthy and unfit to advance the entire human species, scientifically, spiritually or sexually! Politics is very much about sex, and issues of tolerance of human differences vis-a-vis sex.

In a healthy country there is room for almost every type of adult: including adults who are totally asexual and celibate, adults who like to attend orgies (preferably ones where safe sex applies), adults who are strictly monogamous, adults who like adults of the same gender, adults who like both, adults who like even older adults, adults who like to change every few years.

As for sick people who would and/or actually do harm minors; the first time they are found guilty (beyond any reasonable doubt) they should be sent to special farm-like closed, minimum security reservations where adult men and women are encouraged to have sexual relations. This place would also be for all non-violent first time law violators who freely choose to participate, since there would otherwise be far too few women to make it work if only people guilty of crimes involving gender abuse of minors. Persons whose crime involved murder would not be eligible for this therapeutic alternative. And once these adult men and women would realize the beauty of healthy adult relationships then they would be eligible after enough time to move out to special communities set up at a distance from most other communities. This would be the cost-effective and humane way to deal with these people who are truly a danger to minors.

Again, the right-wing extremists are trying to create a full-fledged witch-hunt that will eventually be broadened to imprison and punish adults who engage in kinky consensual relations with other adults! Because these Nazis and fascists know that to control the sexual lives of adults is to have the ultimate political and economic power!

The death penalty is another thing we need to get rid of! It present too much of a risk to our Constitutional rights, liberties and freedoms since it can be abused for political and economic power by unscrupulous people willing to intimidate all political opponents with it! Not only that, but even if only 1% of those who are killed by law turn out innocent (the percentage is much higher!) it does too little if anything at all to really dissuade the kind of sick psychos whom it is intended to dissaude. And I'd rather see the real killers suffer life-long prison sentences forced daily to see images of their terrible crimes.

When we Americans restore our country to its most progressive liberal, as opposed to regressive liberal and destructive conservative, values and principles then we will have a country that is far better able to defend itself against external threats and more wlling and able to send out small-group special forces to wipe out the terrorist leaders, cutting of the snake's heads and giving more room and time for the Islamic reform movements to create Muslim societies able to live at peace with the secular world and other religions! Just as the non-Islamic knights of the Crusades eventually realized that they could not afford to fight endless wars against Islamic knights, we definitely cannot afford to have a global clash of civilizations! Islam can be reformed, as it was more or less successfully so in Morrocco and Lybia, and we need to support the relatively moderate reformists in order to defeat extremists, over there and at home too! The Neo-Cons and pseudo-Christian right are just as dangerous and a threat to democracy, to Our Constitution and to humanity as the pseudo-Islamic terrorists who hijack Islam and who seek their own Nazi-like convoluted Global Caliphate!

Something Is Really Wrong With America!

First of all, allow me to qualify what I am about to write by stating the following: I love the general intent of the founding parents of America and underlying principles upon which The Constitution of The United States of America is based. As a scientifically minded spiritual person, as someone who is convinced that G-D is not religious and does not prefer one religion over another, I totally agree with the wisdom of separation of religion and state! The horrors that ravaged much of the rest of the world, especially Europe, in the name of religion, were the result of the ability of the official state religion to impose its will on those who dissented. I love the principle of freedom of expression and free speech, and understand that in order to protect real freedom of expression and free speech certain logical limitations on what can and cannot be expressed in public must be enforced by law. For example, you should have the right to suggest any non-violent opposition to anything, anyone and any group, but the minute you state things which threaten the lives and thus the rights of others to the same right to freedom of expression and free speech, the minute you directly imply that you would seek to deny others the very rights you benefit from, you have violated the rights of others and should be subject to some form of legal penalty! And I understand that true Democracy cannot really exist as long as the basic rights, including the right to housing and minimmal sustenance, of all are in any way violated! America is wonderful and great on its original Constitutional intentions and ideals, but fails to live up to them BIG TIME! That said, I will never agree to advocate violent social change or violence that is not truly justified by the right to self-defense as defined by International Law and the Human Rights Charter of the United Nations. I advocate non-violence over violent self-defense with exception to situations like what happened in World War Two, when the sick Nazi and Fascist murder machine slaughtered millions and attempted to destroy every vestige of true humanity and high civilization! Those fighting Fascism, Nazism, pseudo-Islamic Fascism, Terrorism and other similar evils, are totally justified, even by the basic principles upon which Satyagara, i.e. Non-Violence, is based.

And now follows the article I wish to share with you.

The other day I saw this report on CNN about a woman being tasered by a police officer in a manner that is totally in violation of any true need to police society! And this real American horror story came within 48 hours of an incident where someone at a university event, a speech by Senator Kerry, was ganged up on and tasered by people who are supposed to protect society and individuals, but who behaved more like sadistic thugs than seriously responsible police officers! Those two incidents evoke memories of what has happened over and over again in the name of law enforcement in America and increasingly so since Bush stole the office of The Presidency in 2000 and again in 2004. We must not forget what happened to that female lawyer in Miami, Florida a few years ago! Nor must we forget about the Rodney King police brutality incident and the consequences of that! Surely decent and honorable police officers, probably fewer and fewer than ever, suffer the most from these gross violations of the rule of law!

How can these sort of things be happening in America?

And it does not help when Anderson Cooper, someone I used to have great respect for, makes light fun of these taser attacks.

Tasers should only be allowed to be used when the individual is armed or is an obviously muscular brute! Never in any other case.

Instead, the police should have the option to tell non-violent offenders that if they do not resist arrest they may yet be released without charges being filed, and the laws should be ammended to reduce the number of arrests based on non-violent acts.

Anyway, America is losing it in more ways than just the ones mentioned thus far.

What's with an MIT student wearing a so-called piece of art that clearly is meant to resemble a bomb? At an airport??!

And what's with sick television shows like COPS, and this new piece of crap about young children left to suffer in a mock Western Ghost town??

And then all these attempts by the right wing in America to equate responsible alternative life-styled kinky adults with sick people who harm children?!? Sure, we need to find those real sickos who would harm minors and put them on special "adult sex only" adults-only penitential farms and, even when they have served their time there, moved to adults-only communities that are located at a significant distance from families with children. But we also need to get the government out of the sex lives of mature and consenting adults, regardless of what their sexual identity and/or lifestyle is!

We should even decriminalize the act of prostitution and promote a Geisha-like alternative social solution for adults in need of adult companionship, whereby any man or woman can provide a service for a fee that does not involve direct sexual intercourse, such as enterntainment (reading a poem, reading a story, chatting), massage or whatever, and then, when the service is over, that man or woman can, of their own free will, free of any charge, engage in sexual contact.

But the right wing and even many confused moderates, centrists and left-of-center persons perpetuate the myth that kinky adults are mentally ill and a public health threat! As I see it, more people die from cancer and other diseases related to stressful survival, including sexual frustration and disattisfaction than die from STDs! And also a greater number of average folk get serious STDs than those who are kinky adults! Kinky adults and many in the GLBT community are more safety-conscious than average folk who think it is alright to go behind the backs of those they claim to love and cheat them by having sexual relations without their knowledge and consent!

I find all these violations of civil rights and freedoms beyond unacceptable! They should be fully investigated, massively protested against and we should never accept the BIGGEST OF LIES which states that in order to protect America from the threat and reality of terrorism we must be willing to sacrifice some, let alone any, of our freedoms and liberties!

Truly intelligent people can see that this is absolutely false! There is absolutely no need to sacrifice a single freedom or liberty in order to provide the best possible security and protection from potential terrorist attacks.

And then there are those idiots who have no qualms about appearing on TV news shows where the reporter uses terminology that clearly serves to perpetuate an abominable falsehood concerning Muslims and Islam! The use of the terms "Islamo-fascist", "Islamic Extremists", "Islamists", and "Islamic terrorists" are not only totally incorrect and false, not only offensive and hurtful to those Muslims who are moderate and who are equally opposed to terrorism and sick pseudo-Islamic terrorist groups like al-Qaeda, but they are terms that perpetuate a very untruthful and dangerous public impression about the roughly 1.2 billion people who consider themselves Muslims or of Muslim background! Why? Because these false terms add fuel to an already explosive fire and push us closer and closer to the point where the conflict between non-terrorists and terrorists becomes a much wider and ultimately suigenocidal conflict between entire civilizations, between all Muslims and all non-Muslims!

Regardless of the fact that Islam has as one of its core historical tenets the idea of spreading their faith by the sword (i.e. violence), there are a number of Islamic reform movements that for all intents and purposes understand that that tendency to violence is no longer applicable and actually harms the relatively positive aspects of Islam. If you pay close attention and do your research you will find that such calls to violence can be found in the historical context of Christianity and Judaism as well! Moderate reformists in Islam need to be encouraged and embraced, instead of being forced into a greater conflict that is in part caused by the use of dangerously false terminology, labels and expressions!

And now we have this sick and dangerous megalomaniac Ahmadinejad being invited to address students at Columbia University! Well, like Elie Wiesel, I totally agree that someone who spews anti-Jewish anti-Semitic hatred, Holocaust-denial, and the destruction of the historically legitimate state of Israel, should be censored! But so should Bush and all Neo-Con pseudo-Republican fascists!

Oh! And then this stupid girl at MIT! Wearing a piece of so-called art at an airport that is clearly meant to look like a bomb! If someone so stupid can be a student at MIT then maybe someone like me should be allowed to be a Professor of Ethics at MIT!

Something is really wrong with America! We should all be outraged to the point of boycotting any company who produces products or provides services that also supports the right wing creeps!
